The IHI-GREG project is excited to present a session at the upcoming in-person Patient Engagement Open Forum (PEOF), focusing on Real-World Data (RWD) and Real-World Evidence (RWE). This interactive workshop-style session will explore how to bridge knowledge gaps, build capacity among stakeholders to enhance the uptake of RWE, and ensure meaningful patient involvement in these studies. The session is linked to Work Packages 7 and 8 of the project.
Real-World Evidence is transforming healthcare decision-making, but its full potential can only be realized if all stakeholders, including patients, are equipped with the right knowledge and tools. This session will:
- Introduce RWD and RWE through a practical hypothetical case study and an overview of the IHI-GREG project.
- Map the needs and knowledge gaps among different stakeholder groups, identifying opportunities for capacity building.
- Engage participants in an interactive activity to inventory existing training resources and highlight unmet needs.
Key Questions that’ll be explored:
- How do we build capacity and capability among all stakeholders to increase the uptake and adoption of RWE and patient involvement in these studies?
- What is your connection to RWE, and how do you see its role in healthcare?
- What are the current knowledge levels, angles of interest, and pressing questions from your stakeholder group?
- Can you share positive examples of ongoing activities or collaborations in RWE?
This session will be led by a diverse panel of experts and patient advocates:
- Estelle Jobson (EUPATI Fellow, GREG PAG Member)
- Mandy Daly (EUPATI Fellow, GREG PAG Member)
- Mariam Bibi (The Get Real Institute)
- Alejandro Puigrefagut Pla (European Society of Cardiology)
- Maria Dutarte (EUPATI)
If you are attending this year’s event, don’t miss this opportunity to contribute to the conversation on how RWE can be leveraged to improve health technology access and decision-making. Your perspective is invaluable in shaping the future of patient-centric evidence.
The session outputs will be instrumental in shaping the RWE trainings produced within WP7 and WP8 of the GREG project.
The Patient Engagement Open Forum (PEOF) is a multistakeholder initiative bringing together patients, industry and all other involved stakeholders to enhance patient involvement in medicines R&D and healthcare. The initiative is co-organised by EUPATI, European Patients Forum (EPF) and Patients Focused Medicines Development (PFMD) and was initially launched under the IMI-PARADIGM project.
